AA Sports Congratulates Hood to Coast Athletes with Finish Line Party

August 28, 2012

You have been stuck in a van with your sweaty, sore and tired friends for over 20 hours. The only reprieve is to get out and run. You braved the elements, dark, hills, dust, smoke and granola bars. What is the first thing you want when you reach the beach? A PARTY!

AA Sports knows how to celebrate. We have organized the Hood to Coast Finish Line since 1990. AA Sports plans, maps, sets up and tears down the area. Once again, this year thousands of runners, walkers and volunteers participated in the 2012 Hood to Coast Relay, Portland to Coast Walk Relay and Portland to Coast High School Challenge. The event concluded on the beach in Seaside, Oregon, with music, beer, food, team photos and a lot of fun!

In addition to the finish line, AA Sports managed the start line and timed the event. Start times varied, but the 12th runner on each team wore a timing chip that tracked their place. An awards ceremony was held Sunday morning.

AA Sports is proud to be a part of Hood to Coast. Congratulations to all the participants who make the race the “Mother of All Relays!”

Hood to Coast – 1 Week to Go!

August 17, 2012

Hood to Coast is only a week away! Are you ready for the world’s largest relay?

This year marks the 31st anniversary of the 199-mile relay race from Mt. Hood to Seaside, Oregon. For 2012, there will be 1,050 teams totaling 12,600 runners, along with 3,600 volunteers to make it all happen. The event also includes the Portland to Coast Walk Relay and Portland to Coast High School Challenge.

Since 1990, AA Sports has been involved with Hood to Coast. We will be there to time, manage the start and finish lines and host the Finish Line Party!

The relay starts Friday, August 24, at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Waves start at 6:30 a.m. and continue through 6:45 p.m. Teams of 12 alternate through 36 legs ranging between approximately 3.5 and 8 miles.

Hood to Coast finishes on the beach in Seaside, just north of the Broadway Avenue turnaround. Join us for the finish line celebration where there will be entertainment, food, drinks and fireworks! The Brian Odell Band and Hit Machine will keep the party going through Saturday evening.

Remember to come back Sunday morning for the awards ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
