About the Event
The PORTLAND FIRST RUN of 2017
Start your new year off right with a
1.5-Mile (New), 5K Run/Walk, or 10K Run at Midnight on New Year’s Eve
along the waterfront in Downtown Portland!

The First Run & Walk will start at the stroke of Midnight. What better way to bring in the New Year than to celebrate with hundreds of your family, friends, and neighbors?
The courses take participants along the waterfront and across 2 bridges, with spectacular nighttime views of the lights of our beautiful city. Enjoy the fitness benefits of a run or walk, and a celebration at One World Trade Center with:
* Food & beverages, including Deschutes Brewery beer
* Music & dancing with a DJ
* A winter photo op with “snow” and wintry decorations all around
* Holiday fun before and after at World Trade Center
* Costumes are encouraged – there will be contests and prizes
For those who want to start off the New Year in an extra kickin’-it kind of way, we offer the 10K Run to the traditional 5K Run/Walk, and new this year is the 1.5-Mile Run/Walk. The 10K course is a double-loop of the beautiful riverside 5K course. The course follows the waterfront on both the West and East Esplanades, and runs over the Steel and Hawthorne Bridges, offering participants spectacular views of the lights of our beautiful city reflected on the water!

WHEN & WHERE
Saturday, December 31st at the World Trade Center, 121 SW Salmon St. The celebration begins at 10:00 pm, with the races starting at the stroke of midnight! Stay warm with music, dancing and exploring the expo while getting ready for the midnight start.

Shirt sizes and quantities may be limited as we get closer to the race date. There will be some extra’s that will be available on a first-come first-served bases at Packet Pickup. Post race orders will be available for those that do not get a shirt at Packet Pickup. A $5.00 shipping fee will be charged for all post-race orders.
Pre-Event Packet Pickup & Registration times:
Saturday, December 31st, 11 am – 3 pm – Packet Pickup and Registration will be held at the Downtown Foot Traffic store, 333 SW Taylor Ave, Portland 97204
On-Site Day of Race Packet Pickup & Registration will take place from 10 p.m. to 11:45 p.m Saturday night at the Start/Finish area at World Trade Center, 121 SW Salmon St. Downtown Portland, Or

Free on Street Parking is available. The Max Line is located two blocks from the World Trade Center, making it a good option for participants. Please check the MAX Lightrail schedule for final arrival & depature times going to your destination. The website is www.trimet.org/max. Check back for Trimet’s New Year’s Eve hours and specials closer to the event. (Trimet has not confirmed the night’s schedule at this time.) As soon as it’s know, we will post the MAX line info for New Year’s Eve here.
Award Plaques will be presented to the Overall Male, Female, Masters Male, and Masters Female for each race. Due to time logistics, there will be no age group awards presented. Award Certificates will be available for download on the website with Results.
