EVENTS: Marathon & Half-Marathon (Run/Walk – both events)

DATE: SATURDAY JUNE 28, 2014

LOCATION: Sunriver, Oregon (located 15 miles south of Bend, just off Hwy. 97 in Central Oregon (altitude 4,200 ft).

NOTE: WALKERS ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE IN BOTH THE MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON EVENTS. THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT FOR EITHER EVENT.START

TIMES: Marathon – 7:30 a.m., Half-Marathon – 8:00 a.m.

START LOCATION: Runners & Walkers will start the race in the Sunriver Village (Athlete Village, the official finish line). There will be music, as well as water and electrolyte. Pre-race briefings will be given 20 minutes prior to the race starts and 15 minutes prior to the start all the athletes will move to the start line, as a group (start lines will be posted with signage on Thursday).

NOTE: T-shirts guaranteed to pre-registered participants only. Quantities and sizes will be limited after 6/1.

PACKET PICKUP 
Participants can register or pick up their race packets on Friday starting at 6:30 a.m. at the Registration/Packet Pickup tent in Athlete Village in Sunriver.

CONFIRMATIONS
Confirmation cards will be mailed in early June to participants whose registrations have been received and processed. Registrations received after June 1st may not receive a confirmation card in the mail and participants should refer to the on-line confirmation list. Pacific Crest handbooks will be available in digital format on the website when ready.

COURSE 
Marathon (26.2-miles) & Half-Marathon (13.1-miles): These runs circle Sunriver Resort on wide, paved, very scenic bike paths. Marathoners will receive their Half-Marathon split when traveling through the Athlete Village before heading out on the second loop of this beautiful scenic course that will take you through meadows and forests, past rivers, and beautifully landscaped golf greens and summer homes.

NOTE: The Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier.

MP3 PLAYERS / IPODS / PORTABLE MUSIC DEVICES: Music devices will be allowed for use on the run course portions of all of the Pacific Crest events, but only one earbud may be used (for participant safety). This applies only to Pacific Crest, but not to the other multisport events owned by AA Sports, Ltd.

HYDRATION STATIONS & PORTA POTTIES: Aid stations with water and Hammer Heed electrolyte drink will be located approximately every mile and at the finish line. Fluids will be kept in cooling containers with ice prior to dispensing. Porta Potties will be located approximately every mile.

MARKING: The run course will be marked with white lime & pink directional signs (8 1/2″ x 11″) mounted on 48″ wooden stakes. There will also be course marshals and/or Police at all necessary intersections where vehicle traffic may be found. Each mile will be marked with a mileage sign. The Run course will be marked by Thursday morning (including mile markers).

COMMUNICATIONS: Every hydration station on the run course will have radio communication with the finish line and the Run Course Managers. If you cannot finish the race for any reason, please notify race personnel at the closest hydration station, or report it to the finish line. If you do not finish, please make sure that you return your Timing Chip to the finish line.

THE START 
The Marathon and Half-Marathon events start in the Athletes Village. The paths are approximately 6 ft wide, perfectly paved and wind  through the forest. Each course has only two small hills, with a minimal elevation gain to navigate and a fast downhill to flat finish.

THE FINISH
Runners and Walkers will finish the race at the Sunriver Village Mall (Athlete Village) to the cheers of the enthusiastic crowd. Once finished, runners can enjoy the finish line festivities, including the Sports & Fitness Expo and live entertainment. Post-race refreshments will be provided and the Awards Ceremony for the Marathon/Half-Marathon will begin once the results have been certified.

SOME NOTES:

  • Remember to bring adequate clothing, as the temperatures can vary from 38 to 90 degrees midnight to mid-day.
  • Remember we are guests of Central Oregon and Sunriver Resort. Please respect the area by not littering or defacing property (which includes not painting words of encouragement on the roads and bike paths).
  • Sign your kids up for the Splash-Pedal-n-Dash which will be held on Friday night at 4:00 p.m. in the Athlete Village. It’s a great way for them to feel involved!
  • The Marathon & Half-Marathon are held in conjunction with the Pacific Crest Long Course Triathlon (TRI Northwest Long Course Championship) and Pacific Crest Endurance Duathlon. The Tri & Du events begin at Wickiup Reservoir, and finish on the same Marathon/Half-Marathon course. These athletes will begin finishing their event at approximately 1:00 p.m. These athletes have come from all over the country to compete on this beautiful course.

MEDICAL & FIRST AID

LOST AND FOUND
Any equipment that is found and unmarked will be taken to Lost and Found at the Information Tent in Athletes Village. Please come to the event with all personal belongings marked with your name and/or race number.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers, including spouses and other family members of participants, or athletes who are unable to participate, are welcome and encouraged to help with the race. Quality volunteers are integral to maintaining the quality and safety of this event. Awards for the Marathon and Half-Marathon will be presented to the Overall Male and Female, and the Overall Masters Male and Female champions (1st place Overall Male and Female and Masters Male and Female will be removed from the individual age division awards). The top three males and females in each individual age division (including Clydesdale & Athena divisions) will also receive awards.AGE DIVISIONS 
Individual: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+, Clydesdales (men 198lbs & over) & Athena (women 150lbs & over).RACE RESULTS
Timing of the event will be done using the ChampionChip Timing System. Participants must wear a Timing Chip on their shoe in order to receive splits (Marathon) and final results. If you own your own Chip, please provide your Chip number at the time you register (Seven Alpha Numeric Characters). Efforts will be made to post unofficial results, including Marathon splits, at the finish line within 15 minutes of each participant finishing the race. Final results, will be posted on the Official Race web site (www.racecenter.com).
