Each year, during the last weekend in June, athletes, their family and friends, converge on beautiful Central Oregon to take part in the Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival. Pacific Crest is known as the jewel of multisport events in the Northwest and it has become a traditional destination race for athletes from across the nation, as well as from across the globe. It’s also a traditional event for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training fundraising efforts, where their participants have raised over $1.2 million over the years.

PacificCrestPacific Crest events begin Friday morning, with the competition and fun continuing into Sunday afternoon. The full, fun weekend includes Tour de Crest Bike Tours, Long Course and Olympic Triathlons, Endurance and Olympic Duathlons, Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10k, 5k and three kids events – truly something for everyone! Plus, The Village shopping area in Sunriver becomes the Athletes Village and Sports & Fitness Expo, with a terrific assortment of gear, clothing, health products, food and beverages to sample and fun “giftables” to purchase. In the Deschutes Brewery Beer Garden, next to the Village Bar and Grill, athletes, family and friends can enjoy Deschutes Brewery beers, great food, and live entertainment throughout the weekend. Bands from around the region will perform Friday and Saturday nights to Rock the Village and keep the celebration in full swing. Plus local groups will entertain the crowd through the afternoons Friday and Saturday.

Join the many thousands of athletes who have enjoyed the Pacific Crest experience and take this opportunity for fun, camaraderie, and most of all – some of the best competitive racing you will find in the country. It’s an ideal active family vacation opportunity in beautiful Sunriver, in the heart of scenic Central Oregon.

Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival has been dubbed one of the PREMIER events of it’s kind in the country. The triathlons are expected to sell out and it’s advised that athletes register AND make travel arrangements early. Come join us for a weekend of excitement in beautiful, sunny Central Oregon. The competition will be fierce and this is an event not to be missed!

After picking up your race packet at registration, we highly recommend taking your bike to the Cog Wild Bike Shuttle booth for safe transport to the T-1 Swim-Bike Transition (Gull Point/Wickiup Reservoir). The trip to the reservoir is 60 miles roundtrip and takes 2 hours. The Cog Wild Bike Shuttle ensures that your bike is ready for you in the morning. This service is simple and inexpensive, and it allows you more time to enjoy the day in Sunriver.

For the Bike Shuttle, you can either purchase on line HERE before the event, or bring your bike and $10 in cash when you pick up your race packet the day before your race. The Bike Shuttle booth will be open from 9am-6pm Friday and from 9am-4pm on Saturday. (Bike Shuttle is Friday for Saturday racers; Saturday for Sunday racers.) Put your bike number on your bike, then bring your bike to the Cog Wild Shuttle booth across from the Registration Tent in the Sports & Fitness Expo in Sunriver Village. Cog Wild will safely transport your bike to T-1. If you’re staying in Bend, you can use the shuttle from there if you pre-register. Pre-register by emailing Cog Wild at or call Cog Wild at 866.610.4822.

Shuttles start running at 6:00 am, with a bus leaving for the lake approximately eery 15 minutes. Seats on buses are on a first come, first served basis. Friends and family are welcome to ride the bus; each person riding the bus will need their own bus ticket. Please purchase tickets prior to race weekend. Tickets can be purchased when registering, online after registration HERE or on-site during event weekend, while supplies last. Please indicate which day (Sat or Sun) and quantity desired when purchasing.

Volunteers, including spouses and other family members or athletes who are unable to participate, are welcome and encouraged to help with the race. Volunteers help ensure the quality and safety of this event, and it’s always fun to play a part in a successful weekend. We work with a number of Central Oregon non-profits who volunteer in return for a donation to their organization. If you’re part of an non-profit organization and would like more information about how to become involved in Pacific Crest, or any individual interested in being involved in the event through volunteering, please email

The annual Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival provides a unique opportunity for athletes to compete and fundraise as part of their participation, for various non-profit organizations. Over $1.9 million has been raised over the years through the efforts of groups including Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, Team Defeat MS, PEO groups and more. Three Rivers Cares for Kids Foundation, which serves approximately 2,000 kids in the local area, supports many children’s activities through programs including: Healthy Beginnings free health screenings; New Generations low-income day-care; enhanced math and science programs and field trips for local public K-8 schools; and grants to offset “pay-to-play activities fees, for 4-H, Boy Scouts, Lego Robotics competitions, parenting classes and more. Proceeds from the Pacific Crest Splash, Pedal-n-Dash and Kids Dashes go directly to benefit their efforts.

Additionally, Why Racing Events is proud to support High School sports programs and other non-profit organizations through this event and all the races and fundraisers on the Why Racing Events calendar each year. Some of the High School sports programs rely solely on the donations made via these events.

Contributions over the years from these NW races and fundraisers have exceeded $850,000. We are very thankful to the athletes, sponsors, vendors, partners and volunteers who contribute to the success of our events, allowing us to offer this support!
